Congratulations to the team at Hoodline, who recently announced a $10M Series A Round to help propel their expansion nationwide. Led by Founder & CEO Razmig Hovaghimian, the HIVE-backed startup aims to reinvigorate the underserved local news ecosystem. The current round was led by Neoteny, with participation from Sound Ventures, Dentsu Ventures, and Eric Schmidt’s Innovation Endeavors.

Hoodline seeks to bridge the gap between the slimmer margins faced by local outlets going digital and the persistent reader appetite for localized information. Said best by newest board member and Neoteny lead Partner, Joichi Ito: “Hoodline is bringing pioneering technology to the world of hyper-local news and content while layering in editorial expertise and perspective.  This uniquely allows them to craft dynamic stories across a wide range of verticals and outlets.
